Where to stay in Dubai: a hotel area guide

Dubai is spread out, so the neighbourhood you choose shapes your whole trip — how close you are to the beach, the sights, the metro and your budget. Here is how to pick the right area, then book the right hotel.

Match the area to your trip

Downtown Dubai puts you next to Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and the fountains — great for first-time visitors who want the icons on their doorstep.

Dubai Marina and JBR are the beach-and-nightlife choice, with the walk, the beach and plenty of restaurants. The Palm Jumeirah is for resort stays and views.

Deira and Bur Dubai are the older, more affordable heart of the city, close to the souks and the creek, and usually cheaper per night. Business Bay suits business travellers who want to be central without Downtown prices.

Getting around from your hotel

If you plan to rely on the Dubai Metro, staying near a station on the Red Line (which runs along Sheikh Zayed Road through Downtown, Business Bay and Marina) saves time and taxi costs.

Beach areas are wonderful but a little further from the classic sights, so factor in travel time if you want to do both in one trip.

Booking the right hotel

On HudHudTrip you can filter Dubai hotels by price, star rating, guest review score and free cancellation, and see them on a map so you can pick by location as well as price.

For flexible plans, choose a free-cancellation rate so you can adjust if your dates change. Booking a little ahead usually gives the best choice of rooms in peak season (roughly November to March).

Frequently asked questions

Which area of Dubai is best for first-time visitors?

Downtown Dubai is the easiest base for first-timers — you are walking distance from Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and the fountains, and well connected by metro.

Where can I find cheaper hotels in Dubai?

Deira and Bur Dubai are generally the most affordable central areas. On HudHudTrip, sort Dubai hotels by price and filter by review score to find good value.

When is the best time to visit Dubai?

The cooler months from about November to March are the most popular for outdoor time, so hotels are busier and book up earlier. Summer is hotter but often cheaper.
